Position Title
Research CoordinatorPosition Summary
Under the direction of the department chair and in cooperation with department faculty, the Research Coordinator will perform duties associated with coordinating and implementing psychology department research; data, projects/studies, and presentations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains a database of student research and internship opportunities within the PsychologyDepartment.
- Maintains a database of completed student research projects within the Psychology Department
- Coordinates Psychology majors upper-level capstone experiences.
- Represents the Psychology department on committees for AUC Psychology Research Day and Spelman Research Day.
- Assists with collection, reviews, and edits/formats for student research abstracts for submissions to local, regional, national and/or international conferences such as Georgia Psychological Association, ABRCRMS, SEPA.
- Acts as a liaison with principal investigators and with the Office of Sponsored Programs.
- Contributes to the design and creation of communications and public relations tools; coordinates meetings among AUC community, faculty, research teams, psychological professional organizations and support staff.
- Works with Corporate and Foundation Relations team to secure funding support for student travel to conferences and other partnership opportunities.
- Works with Psychology department faculty to facilitate students' independent research projects.
- Assists in monitoring the participants support departmental budget line: by creating requisitions, paying invoices, paying student participant support and other compensation requests, when needed.
- Secures rooms for faculty and student data collection efforts
- Orders supplies needed for student research studies.
- Prints research posters for faculty and staff when needed.
- Facilitates workshops on various topics about psychology research, graduate programs, and
- internship opportunities.
- Assists in the recruitment of participants by sending out regular college-wide emails.
- Establishes connections with agencies and institutions funding summer research programs,
- internships and graduate school opportunities and providing this information to students throughout the year.
- Submits theses and research posters to Digital Services at AUC Woodruff Library for cataloging.
- Assists Psychology students with preparation for local, regional, and national competitive conferences.
- Assists students in applying for summer research programs and internships.
- Assigns and reviews research-related work and tasks given to research assistants and students.
- Monitors and maintains inventory equipment and supplies in the Psychology Behavior Lab.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree required preferably in Psychology and must possess a minimum of three years of related work experience.This position requires knowledge of principles of the scientific method and research design, along with organizational and analytical skills. The ability to perform research and analyses using various tools and techniques is required. Applicants must have knowledge of Institutional Review Board protocols, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills. Applicants must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, reports, and legal documents.
Applicants must also possess the ability to effectively deliver presentations to various groups (including executives, general public, students, faculty/staff) and/or individuals and write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Strong proofreading skills are required. In addition, applicants must also possess good interpersonal/human relations skills, attention to details, confidentiality, and the ability to handle matters with tact and diplomacy. In this regard, applicants should possess the ability to respond to common inquiries or concerns from faculty/staff, students, parents, and other constituents of the College. Effective decision-making strategies and strategic planning skills are a must.
Must have basic to intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and use of SPSS software preferred.Education and experience in Psychology preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit, walk, use hands to handle office supplies, operate computer and other office equipment, talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms.
