As the first year Assumption University's ten-year strategic plan, "Thrive," commences, the institution seeks a dynamic and experienced advancement leader with superb interpersonal, strategic, and operational skills and abilities to fill the key position of Director of Advancement Services.
BASIC PURPOSE: In support of the mission of the University, this individual oversees all aspects of the Advancement Services functions of The Office of University Advancement. Reporting to the Vice President of University Advancement, the Director of Advancement Services works with the directors in each of the respective Development and Alumni & Donor Engagement areas to develop strategic plans that enhance the delivery of services to the division units and evaluates the Advancement Services operational areas and implements systems, procedures, and policies which promotes efficiency, effectiveness, cooperation and collaboration between all areas.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Handles the overall management and operation of the alumni /development database (Slate) which houses biographical, event, fund and gift information as well as ancillary data on alumni, parents, trustees, friends, corporate and foundation constituencies.
- Accountable for the accurate recording of all charitable gifts and non-charitable event revenue to the College, including the accurate recording of pledges and the reminder/payment process.
- Directly supervises Manager of Gift and Donor Services and Gift Processing.
- Responsible for ensuring that the University meets all IRS and State requirements as well as CASE standards.
- Responsible for developing data analytics to drive fundraising outcomes.
- Partners with the University's Finance Office to work with the auditors annually.
- Accountable for the timely and accurate acknowledgment of all gifts to the University.
- In coordination with the Director of Stewardship and Communications, this position supports the enhancement and ongoing maintenance of the Named/Endowed Fund Stewardship program. This program provides an annual report to the donors in regards to their fund and its fiscal performance.
- Accountable for the operational support and preparation of a future multi-year, multi-million dollar fund raising campaign effort.
- Responsible for the annual preparation, continual oversight and signatory control of the department budget which includes supplies, equipment, reference materials, travel, and postage.
- In collaboration with the Vice President for University Advancement, continue to develop, implement, and maintain institutional policies and procedures concerning the charitable activity of the University.
- Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show an understanding of and a respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
- Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years development or relevant experience preferably in an academic setting.
- Knowledge of fundraising techniques with strong knowledge of IRS, FASB, and CASE regulations and reporting standards regarding charitable giving.
- Knowledge of Slate is major plus.
- Experience using predictive modeling for donor behavior is also a plus.
- Must be able to drive the development of and reporting on data analytics
- Extensive knowledge of relational database and reporting tools, plus working knowledge of research techniques and processes
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent communications and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Ability to engage and motivate staff members.
- Research and analytical skills required.
- Interacts on a frequent daily basis with other IA office staff, members of the Information Technology Department, Office of Finance and other external constituencies.
