Position Summary

Nominations and applications are invited for the position of Assistant Professor in Leadership, area of specialization is open, however experience or interest in the areas of Community Leadership, Research Methods and Grant Writing is desirable. This is a full-time, tenure-track position to begin August 2025 and will serve graduate and undergraduate programs in the Department of Leadership. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage a dynamic and innovative curriculum and also transition into the role of Graduate Program Coordinator in the 2nd year of employment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Starting in Year Two, serve as departmental Graduate Coordinator and commit to all responsibilities associated with that role.
  • Be willing to adopt innovative teaching methods and delivery as appropriate.
  • Possess the knowledge, talents, and skills to promote effective teaching in the discipline of Leadership.
  • Demonstrate respect for the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and implement curriculum objectives and content for courses offered and taught in one's curriculum area.
  • Maintain high standards and expectations for all students.
  • Use multiple measures to assess student learning on a regular basis and provide frequent feedback to students relative to their performance.
  • Be available, knowledgeable and demonstrate proficiency in the practice of academic advisement of students.
  • Conduct appropriate research and scholarly/creative activity within the discipline.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development
  • A willingness to engage in service to the department, college, university, and broader community.
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in Leadership or related social and behavioral science fields from a regionally accredited program. ABD will be considered if the doctorate will be completed by August, 2025.
  • Documented evidence of ability in a teaching assignment, particularly in an online environment.
  • Documented evidence of scholarly and creative achievement within the discipline of Leadership and/or Leadership-adjacent disciplines appropriate for the rank of Assistant Professor.
  • Documented evidence of university service and professional contributions and activities appropriate for that of an Assistant Professor.
