A Postdoctoral Research Associate I position is open in the Department of Anesthesiology to collaborate with Dr. Rabail Chaudhry, the Clinical Research Director. Our team is conducting clinical studies focused on trauma and coagulation, utilizing viscoelastic assays to assess the response of TXA in various surgical patients. We have extensive collaborations with the University of Texas and other trauma centers, engaging in multicenter studies on trauma and resuscitation, and supporting research projects in other areas of anesthesiology.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Carry out hypothesis-driven research: Design and conduct experiments to test specific research questions related to trauma and coagulation.
- Data organization: Record and organize experimental details and data meticulously.
- Initiative and problem-solving: Work semi-independently, demonstrating creativity and initiative to solve research-related problems.
- Identify potential research participants: Review the operating room schedule to identify eligible surgical patients for clinical studies.
- Informed consent process: Assist in obtaining informed consent from patients, ensuring they understand the study and their role in it.
- Operating room support: Be present in the operating room or post-operative care unit to facilitate anesthesiologists/ nursing staff to collect blood samples at specified intervals.
- Manuscript and grant writing: Write manuscripts for publication and contribute to grant writing efforts.
- Research dissemination: Present research findings through talks, posters, and presentations at laboratory meetings and national conferences.
- Good laboratory practices: Adhere to established laboratory procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Supervisory responsibilities: Share oversight duties for research technical staff, as well as medical students and residents on research internship or elective.
- Collaborative work: Collaborate with other members of the clinical research team.
- Group meetings and administrative duties: Attend regular group meetings, manage laboratory equipment and supplies, and respond to administrative requests and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- PharmD or PhD in Pharmacology, Physiology, Biochemistry, or related field.
