Location

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

The Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology (EEOB) has a strong commitment to ensuring all members of our community feel like they belong at Kennesaw State University. EEOB serves over 2,000 undergraduate majors earning the Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and over 100 majors in Environmental Science. Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for full-time, non-tenure track faculty positions as Lecturer of Organismal Biology in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology that begins August 2025. These are nine-month contracted positions. These positions are for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

A commitment to excellence in teaching and service to the university, department and/or discipline is expected of all non-tenure track faculty. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Teaching at the undergraduate level with an emphasis on active and experiential learning.
  • The primary teaching responsibility will be Principles of Biology II lecture (BIOL1108) and accompanying lab (BIOL1108L), which emphasizes evolution, ecology, and organismal biology.
  • Principles of Biology II is a coordinated course. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve the undergraduate experience in Principles of Biology II. and may include the coordination of the sections of Principles of Biology II (Laboratory or lecture, online or face-to-face modalities).
  • May include teaching other undergraduate biology and College of Science and Mathematics courses as needed by the department.
  • Establish a teaching and mentoring environment where students can be successful and feel a sense of belonging.
  • Possibility of teaching evenings, online or in a hybrid format.
  • Summer teaching is a possibility.
  • This is a teaching position, so there are neither expectations of nor support for research.
  • Participation in professional service to the university, department and/or discipline.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • A Master's or terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D.), or the foreign equivalent, in Organismal Biology or a closely related field is required.
OR
  • A Master's degree or terminal degree (e.g. Ph.D.), or the foreign equivalent, in a non-related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in Organismal Biology is required.
AND
  • Teaching experience in Biology or related fields
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success using evidence-based teaching practices at the university level.
  • A record of teaching Organismal Biology, Ecology, and/or Evolutionary Biology.
  • A record of engagement in activities that foster participation and success of students.
  • Experience teaching and developing online courses.
  • Experience coordinating multi-section courses.
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate students.
