Position Description
CADM Human Resources Consulting seeks an experienced Sr. Human Resources Consultant to join a dynamic and dedicated team that delivers HR Consulting services to over 1,000 employees in three Central Administration (CADM) units: Harvard IT (HUIT), Financial Administration (FAD), and Harvard Federal Credit Union (Harvard FCU).
This position reports to the Director of Human Resources for FAD and Harvard FCU, and serves as a key HR partner to approximately 250 employees in Harvard Financial Administration (FAD). FAD's mission is to consistently deliver high-quality, innovative service and leadership in financial planning, analysis, operations, and compliance, in support of Harvard's teaching and research objectives. This role involves collaborating closely with the HR department and partnering with FAD leaders, managers, and staff to deliver impactful solutions and tailored support and advice. Your efforts will focus on strengthening organizational capacities and effectiveness and supporting FAD's culture and community.
Success in this role requires flexibility, responsiveness, and creativity in your approach to delivering HR services, with the ability to see the big picture. You must be adept at delivering results both independently and as part of multiple intersecting teams.
- Providing technical guidance, consulting, and problem-solving for human resources-related issues.
- Consulting with department leaders, managers, and employees on employee relations issues.
- Coaching department leaders and managers in performance management, employee relations, retention, career development, and compensation.
- Identifying and engaging management and leadership development programs.
- Advising, interpreting, communicating, and participating in developing HR policies, practices, and processes.
- Managing recruitment and hiring in partnership with the Talent Acquisition team.
- Managing positions, including developing, updating, and maintaining job descriptions, managing positions, and liaising with managers, leadership, and finance to approve positions. Evaluating requests for re-classification, re-organizations.
- Managing compensation activities, including conducting equity reviews of all staff, making salary recommendations for new hires, and ensuring that contractual increases are implemented accurately and on time.
- Working with partners inside FAD and across the HR team to develop and deliver various initiatives related to employee engagement, onboarding, learning, development, and mobility.
- Managing and implementing the annual merit increase and bonus process.
- Providing specialized research, data analytics, and reporting to inform decision-making.
- Functioning as a subject matter expert, HR lead, or project manager on various FAD programs.
- Ensuring compliance with University Human Resources policies, procedures, and requirements and applicable legal regulations.
- Supporting managers in forecasting and planning their talent pipeline requirements in line with their department strategy.
- Collaborating with department leaders and managers to diagnose, develop, and lead organizational development strategies and deliver tailored HR solutions.
- Acting as a Resource Coordinator for Title IX issues for FAD/HUIT/Harvard FCU, which includes staying updated on all factors of the laws and Harvard's procedures.
- Maintaining current knowledge of progressive HR practices and key trends.
- Effectively delivering HR programs initiated by HHR to FAD.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with centralized HR service providers to deliver tailored service to FAD and participating in all team meetings and other projects as assigned. Acting as broker for HR services.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum of 7 years' relevant HR experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS applications and analytics
- Advanced knowledge of employment law and HR policies and practices; financial/business acumen
- Demonstrated experience with the administration of bargaining unit policies and procedures
This is a full-time, five-day-per-week exempt position with a hybrid schedule. Regular on-campus presence is required, including additional ad hoc days on campus for meetings, training, etc., as required and based on business need.

This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
