Summary of Position: This position will support Western’s efforts to improve teaching and learning through the effective application of instructional design theory through performance-based curriculum development and assessment practices with an emphasis on educational justice by assisting faculty with designing program and course level curriculum. Learning Experience Designer develops curriculum and content to align with educational and occupational standards, applies instructional design strategies to content development, and uses technology to connect content and pedagogy to support learning and teaching for diverse student audiences.
This is a hybrid eligible position that would allow for 2-3 days a week working from home after the training period.
Essential Functions:

Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department. 3. 4. Plan and Facilitate Program Administration - Supporting Duty Statements:
- Strategically develop and/or review curriculum including program design maps and course outcome summaries using the College's official instructional design system
- Work with key subject matter experts to recommend changes and enhancements to new and existing course-level curriculum and design to foster an inclusive teaching and learning environment
- Evaluate and approve official course curriculum documentation to include (but not limited to): Course Assessment Maps, Course Key Assessments, and Blackboard Design
- Provide front line support to faculty regarding course development and implementation, instructional design, and utilization of the Worldwide Instructional Design System (WIDS)
- Provide Blackboard administrative duties including but not limited to: keeping up to date on all Blackboard upgrades, communicating and modeling changes and design elements, create Blackboard shells when needed, support faculty on course design, etc.
- Assist in the integration of culturally responsive curriculum design, delivery, and assessment through collaboration with the other instructional technology and design staff
- Collaborate with librarians to curate and build resources for faculty that integrate diverse perspectives with course content for the range of programs in the College.
- Provide feedback and input for future instructional design needs
- Support faculty in development of learning plans for various delivery methods
- Maintain data collection, reporting, and analysis of curriculum and instructional design-related support and services
5. Plan and Facilitate Teaching and Learning - Supporting Duty Statements:
- Assist faculty in identifying, incorporating, and aligning course competencies, learning objectives, learning plans, performance assessment tasks, and criteria for assessment, along with generating syllabi
- Analyze problems and situations, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of Goals
- Provide feedback to fulltime and adjunct faculty on teaching and learning instructional practices to support growth
- Identify the professional development strengths and needs in the application of curriculum theory including backwards instructional design theory, culturally responsive teaching practices, trauma and poverty informed practices,
- and performance-based learning for adult learners
- Plan and conduct professional development for faculty and staff related to Blackboard course delivery, curriculum development, backwards design theory, culturally responsive teaching practices, trauma and poverty informed practices, and performance-based learning.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field with 2 yrs. teaching experience
- Two years of documented curriculum and/or course instructional design experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s in Education
- Experience in Higher Education
- Experience in building accessible learning environments in a Learning Management System (Blackboard) across various Modalities

Starting annual salary range based on education and experience: $55,299 - $72,331
This is a hybrid eligible position that would allow for 2-3 days a week working from home after the training period.
