The Leadership Giving Officer will focus on engaging with and qualifying alumni and parents of Dickinson College who may be capable of philanthropy at a John Dickinson Society or major gift level. By maintaining a robust schedule of virtual and in-person visits with current and potential leadership-level donors, the LGO will maintain portfolio of approximately 200-225 prospects with a known capacity of $25,000 or more, encouraging donors to commit to multi-year gifts at a JDS level ($500-2500) and above.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a highly visible, knowledgeable, and articulate representative of Dickinson College with the objective of increase outreach, engagement, and philanthropy for leadership giving prospects
  • Qualify, track, cultivate, solicit and steward potential leadership donors capable of pledging $25,000 or more. Coordinate and maintain a visit schedule of at least 15 prospect visits per month. Solicitation goals will be set on an annual basis and will be based on specific donor situations. Caseload will comprise approximately 200-225 householded prospects with known capacity of $25,000 or more. Approximately 25-30% of the portfolio will include active engagement towards an increased gift. The other 70-75% will include qualification activities that could result in multiple outreach attempts before a visit is secured and may include removal from portfolios after the qualification visit takes place. Develop and implement written individual cultivation & engagement strategies for LG1 prospects.
  • Proactively and creatively engage with campus partners including Admissions, Career Center, and others to facilitate volunteer referrals driven by specific donor interests, with a goal of increasing engagement and willingness to consider a major gift over time. Plan & execute approximately 10-12 personalized high-impact engagement opportunities per year for assigned LG prospects to increase propensity to give.
  • Coordinate with the Major Gift team, the Donor Engagement Office, the Office of Alumni Engagement, and the Dickinson Fund to support engagement and stewardship events on campus and at other locations in the Mid-Atlantic or elsewhere.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of institutional priorities that may match donor passion and interest. Attend and actively participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings to ensure proactive, close coordination with and support of shared College Advancement goals. Utilize campaign and annual fund initiatives as well as individual donor interests with the goal of increasing engagement and willingness to make a major gift over time.
  • Attend on-campus staff meetings and events as needed. Major on-campus events include but are not limited to: Homecoming & Family Weekend, Alumni weekend, Commencement, and campaign-related events.
