Assistant Director of Annual Giving
The Assistant Director of Annual Giving position is key to the Office of College Advancement division’s success by: establishing philanthropic and engagement relationships with key young alumni prospects, expanding and deepening the class-based volunteer program, managing direct marketing and communications initiatives for young alumni, serving as a liaison for assigned reunion classes and affinity groups, coordinating mass outreach through phone to select constituents, managing and implementing the student philanthropy fellows program, and leading student philanthropy education initiatives. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, training, mentoring and monitoring performance of student philanthropy fellows.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee the management of the Student Philanthropy Fellows program. This includes hiring and training students, strategy for their work, and project coordination for divisional work with the Fellows. This position has hiring, termination and reviewing responsibilities for employed students.
- Serve as the liaison for the 5th and 10th reunions including volunteer committee recruitment and training, goal-setting (dollar, donor, attendance), class communications, building class identity, event planning and outreach.
- Manage and grow the class agent program for the youngest ten years. This includes recruiting, training, relationship-development and building them into engagement and fundraising advocates for Dickinson.
- Create multi-channel marketing outreach to build connections and affinity for Dickinson that include solicitation among the youngest ten classes. Identify and promote leadership giving membership, explore and manage gift challenges for this age range.
- Build and direct an active student philanthropy education program. This includes coordination with the Philanthropy Fellows and providing direction and strategic support to the Senior Class Gift Committee to raise awareness and support from current students during key events through the year. Coordinate events for these groups to promote an understanding and a culture of philanthropy on campus.
- Manage a modified student direct outreach program by hiring and training students to make personal contact with alumni and parent constituents through phone and email
Other duties:
- Supporting various fundraising activities and strategies (as needed).
- Thinking creatively and developing new fundraising strategies for the Dickinson Fund (as needed).
- Representing the Office of Engagement and the Dickinson Fund in meetings with alumni and other friends of the college (as needed).
- Weekend and evening work is required on specific occasions.
