Job Description:

The Office of Institutional Research supports the recruiting, retention, assessment, and reporting activities of the College. It collects and analyzes institutional data, responds to external requests for information from private sources as well as state and federal agencies, and conducts customized studies as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

  • Amplifying and continuing to modernize our data infrastructure, including the management of outside consulting.
  • Help to build and amplify a culture of data fluency and data-driven decision making. Engaging in data studies and key institutional data questions as needed.
  • Completion of all official reports for outside agencies and publications (state, federal, college guides, etc.) in collaboration with other college offices. Includes, but not limited to: IPEDS (Enrollment, Human Resources, Finance, Financial Aid, Graduation Rate, Completers) NYSEDS (Off-Campus Locations Directory, Admissions & Academic Preparation, FT UG Transfer Enrollment, Retention, Graduation Rate) US News & World Report, College Board, Petersons Guides, MSCHE AIU Survey, Higher Education Directory, Albany Business Review, NACUBO & Moody's Surveys, etc. 
  • In conjunction with the Registrar's office, weekly reporting of the Cabinet and Enrollment Summary Report. 
  • In conjunction with the Registrar's office, collection of Census data for the Fall, Spring and Summer terms. 
  • Preparation of the Institutional Trend Report, Fall and Spring Enrollment Summaries and other internal reports to inform institutional decision making and strategic planning.
  • Provides Graduation Rates and Retention Rates for Academic Program Review -if requested. 
  • Work with the National Student Clearinghouse database for specific report requests from other offices 
  • Member of C-CUG (Cross Functional Users Group) 
  • Collaborate w/Provost's office to prepare and disseminate relevant data (DFW rates, time to degree, IPEDs disaggregations, etc.) for the "Data and Dialogue" dashboard and to appropriate stakeholders in order to enhance educational effectiveness across Sage. 
  • Work closely with members of the Academic Affairs leadership team to foster and sustain a culture of assessment and effectiveness throughout Sage. 
  • Other duties as assigned to support institutional needs.

The estimated salary range is $60,000 to $85,000 per year for 40 hours per week for 52 weeks.

Requirements:

Required Education, Training, and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field with three years of experience in higher education.
  • Relevant experience should include: data collection, analysis and interpretation, database management
  • Experience with Colleague, Excel, Informer
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse university environment.

Preferred Requirements:

  • At least five years experience in higher education
  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with data visualization software
