Our main campus is in uptown Greenville, which is a rapidly expanding city and the predominant health, entertainment, financial, and educational hub of the eastern North Carolina region. In addition, many of our students come from rural communities with their own set of challenges and perspectives.

The College of Business (COB) has been AACSB accredited for over 40 years. We offer BSBA, MBA, and MSA degrees and our School of Hospitality Management offers both a BS in Hospitality Management and an MS in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality. Additionally, the Miller School of Entrepreneurship offers a BS in Entrepreneurship. We are one of the largest Colleges of Business in the state with approximately 4,200 undergraduate and 900 graduate students. To date, the COB has approximately 150 faculty members of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of research, teaching, and application of knowledge. A strategic goal of the college is to create an environment where the faculty, staff, and students can thrive and be personally and professionally respected.

The Center for Student Success is responsible to the Director of Undergraduate Programs and the Senior Associate Dean of the College of Business for the design, coordination, and implementation of effective academic advising and career services programs for the College of Business. Academic advising/counseling is defined as providing effective interpersonal guidance, information, and assistance in identifying, developing, and implementing strategies supportive of individual academic and career goals.

Job Duties
80% – Student Advising:
The primary purpose of each Assistant Director position is to provide individual academic advising to undergraduate students. The Assistant Director works with students to enhance engagement in their chosen major, college, university, and community. The position makes personal contact with students; provides guidance about proper procedures regarding all necessary academic forms and use of electronic advising resources; refers students to appropriate university units, learning resources, and personnel; obtains and supplies students with supportive technical information; and meets with students who are in academic difficulty. The Assistant Director participates in university and college events and recruitment activities such as Open House and new student orientations. The Assistant Director is also responsible for recommending and implementing new and improved programs and processes to improve student retention and persistence to graduation. The Assistant Director will work with new transfer students to ensure a successful transition to the ECU College of Business and will participate in college and university student recruitment and advising programs and events, including some evening and weekend events.

20% – Other Responsibilities: The Assistant Director maintains organized and current records, which document individual student progress. The Assistant Director is responsible for making sure all entering students are trained on DegreeWorks to enable students to have more ownership of their academic plan. The Assistant Director monitors students identified as academically at risk and participates in the development and implementation of the intervention efforts of the college. The Assistant Director participates in professional development opportunities and research conducted by the Center for Student Success and the COB. The Assistant Director evaluates the effectiveness of programs, courses, and advising materials, policies, and procedures. Other duties as assigned.

Contingent upon availability of funding

Minimum Education/Experience:
Graduate degree (MBA, MA, MS, PhD, or EdD) in a closely related discipline (examples include, but are not limited to: counseling, adult education, educational leadership, business administration, public administration, psychology, or higher education administration) from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years experience in academic advising/counseling and program development in an institution of higher education.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation: N/A

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and customer-service skills.
