Position Summary
The Instructional Designer (ID) works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Instructional Design on the Distance Education team. In conjunction with other stakeholders, the ID facilitates course review processes and evaluates online course components based on quality standards and accessibility requirements. The ID coordinates training and professional development opportunities for faculty to improve online course quality and ensure best practices are used in online course offerings. This individual will work closely with other instructional design team members to help manage instructional design projects, course review processes, and data collection. The ID manages simultaneous projects and communicates effectively with stakeholders to promote collaboration and accountability.

The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 176,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support to faculty members on effective instructional design practices and instructional technology tools.
- Conduct thorough online/hybrid course reviews to provide faculty feedback and assistance in meeting quality standards.
- Facilitate course review processes and monitor data tracking.
- Manage instructional design projects using a ticketing system.
- Educate and assist university stakeholders to ensure digital course materials, multimedia projects, and instructional technology are compliant with current accessibility standards and regulations.
- Assist the university in remaining in compliance with Distance Education regulations and policies.
- Collaborate with other Distance Education team members to ensure instructional technology settings have optimal functionality and usability for users.
- Stay current on emerging trends in instructional design and technology.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theory
- Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) and other instructional technologies
- Ability to manage multiple projects at different stages while meeting deadlines and quality standards
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and technical skill levels
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with team members and other stakeholders
- Ability to gain new skills as may be required by such things as changing technology
- Ability to use a variety of software platforms, including Microsoft Office applications
- Advanced critical thinking, analysis, and synthesis skills
- Advanced skills in planning, organizing, and self-management
- Bachelor's degree;
- Experience designing and/or teaching online courses;
- Experience assisting faculty with instructional technology integration.
