Hourly Student Affairs Housekeeping Worker
Job Description
Attends to housekeeping needs and assures a clean, sanitary and safe environment in the residential halls where residents can live and learn and in other assigned areas in Student Affairs. Responsible for maintaining established standards of cleanliness and sanitation including student lounges, offices, lobbies, stairs, rest rooms, showers, windows, and other interior space. Duties include floor maintenance, dusting, gathering and removal of trash, snow and ice removal from entranceways and sidewalks, raking leaves and gathering trash from areas near buildings and replenishing supplies. Operates powered and manual cleaning equipment. Reports needed equipment and building repair and any unsafe or unusual housekeeping situations. Responsible for the care and handling of housekeeping supplies, equipment, and assigned keys.
Required Qualifications
- Must have excellent customer service and communication skills for interaction with employees, students, and visitors at a large university campus.
- Knowledge of commercial/industrial cleaning methods.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Safely and efficiently operate electrically powered and manual cleaning equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in cleaning of institutional, domestic, or commercial areas.
