Administrator of Student Health Services/Registered Nurse
Function: Promotes and restores patient health by supervising day-to-day managementand long-term planning of the patient care area; directs and develops health center staff;collaborates with the Medical Director and Nurse Practitioner to provide physical andpsychological support for patients, friends, and families

Description of Duties and Tasks:
1. Functions in accordance with the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act, Code ofEthics for Registered Nurses, and the college's policies and procedures.
2. Provides medical care for minor illnesses and injuries and performs lab testing asordered by the MD/NP or per nursing judgment and as allowed by standingorders.
3. Notifies appropriate faculty/staff of hospitalizations and extended illnesses ofstudents, through the Office of Student Life.
4. Maintains and updates the clinic daily log with student visits, symptoms andtreatment provided and a well-documented record of each student visit in theindividual record.
5. Oversees daily practice operations, including appointment scheduling, billingprocedures, debt collections, cleaning, security, and occupational health & safety.
6. Perform phone-triage duties by accessing information, critical thinking, givingmedical advice, coordinating referrals, and providing follow-up care for patients.
7. Ensures compliance of each student with current immunization requirements forstate and college entrance and continuation via EMR.
8. Administers prescribed vaccinations for travel or immunization compliance.
9. Ensures compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality of medicalrecords and provides consistent and professional communication with parentswhen applicable and appropriate.
10. Maintains supply inventory for the clinic, monitors budget.
11. Collaborates with Wellness team partners and others in supporting holistic healthand wellness awareness education for the campus population.
12. Maintains and updates health center website with current information.
13. Work collaboratively with the student life staff and counseling center to meetstudent needs.
14. Keep apprised and communicate with campus partners about new developmentsin the medical field that are germane to the Gordon College community.
15. Maintain collaborative relationships with professional organizations and areahigher education institutions.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
In order to fully perform the above functions, the incumbent must possess the followingknowledge, skills and abilities, or demonstrate that the major responsibilities of the jobcan be accomplished, with or without reasonable accommodation, using somecombination of skills and abilities.
1. Must cultivate a health center culture that is welcoming, uplifting, and friendly.
2. Have a desire and ability to invest deeply in the lives of students, promotingwellness and maturation in the areas of physical, emotional, spiritual, and mentalhealth.
3. Must be a graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program and licensed topractice in the state of Massachusetts with at least 5 years of clinical experience,or have a Bachelor’s in the Science of Nursing (B.S.N.) who could achieve theRegistered Nurse certification within six months of hire.
4. Must have the ability to work independently, using clinical experience anddefined protocols.
5. Leadership skills necessary include teaching/training, staff development,coaching, and recruiting/hiring.
6. Must possess skill in assessment, recognition and identification of commonillnesses and injuries.
7. Must possess effective interpersonal, verbal and written skills including listening,processing and communicating a plan of action suited to each individual situation.
8. Must be proficient in phlebotomy and administration of IM/SC injections.
9. Must be certified in Basic Life Support CPR and AED.
10. Must possess excellent administrative skills and prior experience with Athenamedical information system as well as Microsoft Office.
11. Previous experience with pediatric, adolescent or urgent/emergency carepreferred.
12. Must possess ability to work constructively and calmly with patients in stressfuland critical situations.
