The Assistant Director for Olympic Sports / Equipment Services will manage and coordinate ordering, distribution, collection, cleaning, repairing, and inventory for all play and practice equipment and uniforms used by the Virginia Tech Olympic Sports teams. Position will supervise student equipment managers and graduate assistant(s) in the day to day operations of the Olympic Sports Equipment Room. Will liaison with senior and administrative staff and coaches on the equipment and uniform needs of our student athletes. Will demonstrate appropriate knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to practice and competition equipment. This position reports directly to the Sr. Director of Equipment Services.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree and/or bachelor's degree in sports management or a related field with comparable sports equipment management experience.
Experience with procurement, issuance, and inventory of Division I athletic equipment.
Experience with equipment management for women's sports of lacrosse, softball, and soccer.
Previous experience working directly with sport equipment vendors on apparel contracts, such as NIKE, Adidas, and/or Under Armour.
Experience fitting, issuing, and appropriate cleaning methods/procedures for equipment and uniforms.
Commitment to diversity.
Experience using online procurement software.
Supervisory experience with equipment and laundry services.
Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.
Working knowledge of NCAA compliance relative to equipment, especially uniforms and apparel.

Preferred Qualifications

Member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA).
Experience using Front Rush or similar computerized inventory system.
