UMKC School of Medicine: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

This position is within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology's clinical research arm at University of Missouri - Kansas City, assisting investigators with basic to moderately complex clinical research studies; may be responsible for multiple research studies simultaneously, acting as a liaison with the school, sponsoring agency, community and the study participants; responsible for managing and recording all phases of study protocol as required by sponsoring agency to ensure compliance.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities  

1. Routinely implements and manages all phases of study/protocol; ensures compliance with protocol guidelines and requirements of regulatory agencies; establishes record-keeping systems; completes assessments and determinations of participants' progress in the study according to assigned schedules.
2. Assists with maintenance of IRB protocols; investigates and reports adverse events; makes decisions as to when to notify research team leads/clinicians of issues including participant exclusion or protocol adjustments.
3. Serves as a stakeholder community expert for the study team and provides guidance and assistance on patient-facing materials, study protocols, and manuals. 
4. Routinely recruits and enrolls study participants; participates in making determinations of eligibility based on diagnostic criteria and/or observations/analysis in participant interviews; conducts enhanced screening intervention with pregnant people enrolled in the study and assists in follow-up visits with participants as needed.
5. Assists with community outreach and advocacy with participants, including helping with barriers to care engagement, as well as assist with academic and public dissemination events and annual community forums.
6. Performs other duties incidental to the work described herein.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this job are the following:

Effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
High-school degree
Strong customer service skills and thorough understanding and working knowledge of patient/client confidentiality issues and HIPAA compliance/regulations.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary is commensurate based on education and qualification

Other Information

The Community Health Worker Research Aid reports to a research supervisor within the University of Missouri - Kansas City and a research coordinator within University Health. They also report to the PI of all projects they assist.

  • Lives within, is a community member within, or has experience with the community served by the project
  • Working knowledge of and experience with IRB and REDCap.

Part-time position. Up to 20 hours a week. (FTE .50)
