Nature of Work
To supervise and coordinate the custodial and mail service in Campus Buildings and Facilities
Examples of Work Performed
Essential Duties:
1. Supervise and coordinate the custodial staff and main campus mailroom activities and staff
2. Inspect and evaluate Custodial and Mailroom work performed on campus
3. Schedule and assign work for support staff to perform repair, building maintenance and custodial service
4. Prepare Purchase Orders for purchasing of necessary supplies and equipment
Secondary Duties:
1. Bidding, purchasing, and maintaining an inventory of custodial supplies
2. Interviewing and recommending candidates for employment
3. May overhaul and inspect equipment on an emergency basis
4. Assist in working out solutions to custodial problems including the specifications of the job, the materials involved and the associated costs
5. Recruit and supervise part-time workers
6. May assist in the preparation of bid specifications for work to be done by outside contractors
7. Test and evaluate new supplies and equipment
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Five years' work experience related to building cleaning, building maintenance, or facilities care
Two years of work experience in a supervisory capacity
Advanced knowledge of cleaning, maintenance, and facility care practices, procedures, and operations

The physical requirements for this position may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the ability to use a computer, calculator, telephone, keyboard, and/or various types of office equipment. Must be able to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats and satisfactorily perform the functions of this position. Ability to work in extreme hot or cold; bend, crouch and climb; assist in safe lifting in excess of 75 pounds; and, sufficient strength to perform assigned tasks.
