Position Announcement

We are seeking dynamic and experienced adjunct professors to join our Film Department. We are looking for instructors with expertise in various areas of filmmaking, including but not limited to:
  • Directing
  • Screenwriting
  • Cinematography
  • Editing
  • Sound Design
  • Production Design
  • Visual Effects
  • Film Theory and Criticism
  • Documentary Filmmaking
  • Animation
  • Film History
  • Producing
  • Acting for Film
  • Post-Production
  • Digital Media and New Technologies
  • Lighting Techniques
  • Film Marketing and Distribution
  • Set Design and Art Direction
  • Costume Design
  • Film and Television Law
Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver course content in your area of expertise.
  • Mentor and guide students in their academic and professional development including holding office hours and meet with students enrolled in assigned courses.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and activities.
  • Stay current with industry trends and incorporate them into your teaching.
  • Teach courses as assigned, under the direction of the Department Chair or Program Coordinator.  A course catalog by division, major, and discipline is found online at https://catalog.utahtech.edu/courses/film/
  • Provide service to department, college, and university committees as assigned.
  • Abide by all applicable executive orders, federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations, as well as University policies and procedures relating to adjunct faculty and general campus employment. Attend and/or complete required trainings by the University and additional training as determined by the Department or Program. 
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Film, Media Arts, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
  • Professional experience in the film industry.
  • Previous teaching experience at the collegiate level is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and engage students.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Part-time instructor position, paid at $900 per credit hour and governed by University Policies 631 and 638.
