Description:

The School of Drama within the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University invites applicants for a one-year Special Visiting Faculty of Movement position in the Acting/Musical Theater Program, AY 2024-25.

The appointee will teach courses in Movement and physical approaches to acting to undergraduate Acting and Music Theatre majors.

In addition to teaching, it is expected that the appointee will engage in other duties such as

  • Mentoring, coaching, and advising students in the School of Drama.

  • Administrative service on School-level committees.

  • Serve as an advisor/movement coach for productions within the School of Drama.

  • Participate in meetings of the Acting/ Music Theater Option, as well as the greater School of Drama community.

  • Engage in the life and events of the school.

This position is for in-person & on-campus instruction in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from Aug 26, 2024 through May 2025.

Salary range is $60-65,000k plus benefits, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should hold a terminal degree in theater, drama, or a related field(s), or have equivalent professional experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have teaching experience in a higher education setting or equivalent experience leading workshops, master classes, or residencies with university-level students.
  • Candidate will have a demonstrated ability in teaching a variety of approaches to physical training/movement for the actor (Lecoq, Laban, Viewpoints, etc.).
  • Additional experience in other techniques such as improvisation, physical comedy, devising, stage combat, or intimacy choreography is a plus.
