Location: Boston, MA

The Ecclesiastical Faculty of the Boston College Clough School of Theology and Ministry (CSTM) seeks applicants for a full-time, open-rank, and tenure-track position in moral theology. The preferred candidate will have a focus on environmental ethics, as well as the willingness to teach fundamental moral theology, and a commitment to engage perspectives arising beyond the Euro-American context. Other areas of ethical inquiry that complement existing offerings within the CSTM are also desirable.

Candidates should be prepared to teach courses appropriate for the Master of Divinity and other theology and ministry degree programs at the master's and doctoral level.

Candidates must be Roman Catholics committed to core Catholic teachings and approach their teaching and research with sensitivity to pastoral commitments and to the diversities evident in the global church. Applicants must demonstrate strong teaching and research ability. Candidates should be willing to contribute to the formation of the diverse student body within the Clough School of Theology and Ministry. Students include Jesuits and other candidates approved for ordination studies, as well as women and men preparing for lay ecclesial ministries and for service rooted in faith. The position requires the willingness to mentor and advise students, many of whom are international students, as they complete the theses or dissertations that are part of the Master of Theology (Th.M.), Licentiate in Sacred Theology (S.T.L.), and Doctorate in Sacred Theology (S.T.D) degrees that the school offers.

Candidates must hold, at the time of application, an earned doctorate in Catholic moral theology or Christian ethics. Since supervision of theses for candidates in the STL program will be a significant aspect of the successful candidate's role in the CSTM, the possession of, or willingness and eligibility to pursue, the STL is required.
