Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage in the education, instruction and facilitation of EMT/Paramedic students while providing mentorship and motivations for learning in classroom environments and active learning groups.
  • Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and modification as a part of the program ongoing quality improvement and assessment program.
  • Collaborate with the EMS program director and other EMS instructors to continue to deliver content in an innovative and integrated curriculum based on published best practices.
  • Participate in established assessments and evaluations of students and provide feedback, and assistance to ensure that all students meet the required standards.
  • In conjunction with the EMS Director, continue the development, maintenance and assignment of clinical rotations and field internships.
  • Provide service to the college, community and students through serving on committees, providing leadership, mentorship, and expertise to students, participating in professional organizations or groups as assigned by the Director of Academic Affairs.
  • Establish and maintain scheduled office hours for students.
  • Participate in the assessment or evaluation of and provide feedback to other members of the faculty as a portion of the COM's ongoing quality improvement and assessment program.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and the willingness to assist the college in fulfilling its mission and vision though teaching, academic administrative duties (course director or coordinator), community service and/or perform special duties as assigned by both the EMS Director and Director of Academic Affairs.
  • Advance the prestige of the College through advancement of it mission and vision and advancement of your personal career.
  • Pursue application of scholarship that results in documented change (e.g., design of assessment systems/reports that require synthesis of expertise and exploration of data that advances the curriculum).
  • Collaborate with the EMS program director in maintaing regulatory requirements as establised by the CoAESMP


Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in paramedics or related field is required
  • 3 years teaching experience in paramedics or related field is preferred
  • Prehospital care, Emergency Medicine or Registered Nurse with Emergency Medicine experience is required
  • AHA BLS and ACLS Instructor certification; must obtain EMS Instructor certification within 3 months of hire is required
  • Must hold a current National Registry in Paramedic and required to be licensed in the State of Arkansas as a Paramedic or licensed RN 
  • Knowledge of EMS theory, practice, and trends.
  • Knowledge of current EMS curricular content and education standards.
  • Ability to adapt EMS curricula to reflect State requirements, local needs, and national trends.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, practice, and methodologies
