Job Description

As the Gallogly College of Engineering continues our mission of graduating more engineers, we are seeking an Assistant Director of Outreach and Recruitment to join our team to help us meet the needs of growing the engineering workforce.
The Outreach and Recruitment Office plays a critical role in identifying and nurturing the next generation of engineers and scientists for Oklahoma and the region. GCoE and OU believe that access and opportunity are essential to growing the engineering student body. As such, the mission of the Office is to engage, encourage and empower pre-collegiate students.
The Assistant Director will closely collaborate with the Director and the student team members to develop and execute innovative events and communications aimed at pre-collegiate students.
Through on- and off-campus events and activities, the Assistant Director will work with prospective students and their supporters to provide the academic and support resources needed to help students decide their own educational future. In the past year, we have shown nearly 10,000 students the possibilities of an OU Engineering degree, impacting students across Oklahoma and the region.

  • Cultivate and build relationships with prospective students, families, high school counselors, and other key stakeholders across campus to recruit the best and brightest to OU.
  • Travel and visit the schools within OU Engineering recruitment areas, often for extended periods including overnight and weekends.
  • Communicate routinely through email, calls, in-person visits, and events with prospective students, families, high school counselors, and other key stakeholders across campus.
  • Create strategy, alongside the Director of Outreach and Recruitment, to ensure we are meeting the needs of the population of prospective students Engineering actively recruits.
  • Routinely present to prospective students, families, counselors, faculty, and staff to share the OU Engineering brand.
  • Assist the Director of Outreach and Recruitment in planning group outreach and recruitment events, including on- and off-campus events and individualized visits for schools and students, as well as setting weekly tour and information session schedules.
