Summary of Position

The Senior HR Generalist serves as a subject matter expert in employee relations, labor relations, benefit administration, performance management, professional development and training, and equal opportunity compliance. Has a foundational understanding of all other HR programs. This position advises on and coordinates employee relations, labor relations, grievance processes, and performance management. May investigate non-civil rights complaints.

The Senior HR Generalist serves as the Benefits Administrator for the College and administers state and federal laws including but not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, FAMLI, Affordable Care Act, Workers Compensation, Equal Employment Opportunity, Title VII, and Title IX, as well as Board Policies and System Procedures, State Personnel Rules, and College procedures.

This position identifies, coordinates, creates, and implements specialized professional development programming to address employee needs and the college's strategic priorities, including diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The Senior HR Generalist assists the Executive Director with organizational development and talent management strategies. Requires on campus presence Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, primarily at the Lakewood campus with some hours at the Arvada campus. Occasional afterhours work may be required.

A successful candidate possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills and is at ease with the following:
  • Conflict Resolution: Uses a variety of approaches to manage and resolve concerns, disagreement, and conflict. Helps uncover underlying and unstated issues causing the conflict. Invites others to express their points of view.
  • Planning and Prioritization: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements. Coordinates with others in response to multiple, competing demands to ensure work is completed in a timely manner. Readily readjusts priorities to respond to pressing and changing demands.
  • Relationship Building: Fosters and sustains robust connections, internally and externally, to effectively collaborate in providing support for all individuals.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, public administration, or other related field of study from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. An equivalency will not count towards the two years requirement below.
  • Two years' experience working within a Human Resources department OR two years' experience performing human resource functions such as conflict resolution, performance management, benefit administration, creating and maintaining a positive relationship with employees, employee engagement, or other related experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Affordable Care Act, Workers Compensation, Equal Employment Opportunity and/or Title IX.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Starting Salary Starting salary range for this position is $61,914 to $68,106 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
