Limestone University invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Social Work (MSW)

Graduate Level Faculty (PhD or DSW required) Professor position is a 12-month appointment in a MSW program fully accredited by the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE). The primary assignment for this position includes teaching (with a special provision for teaching in support of the programs field education department), advising, recruiting, retention, professional tutoring and mentoring MSW students served by Limestone University’s Master of Social Work (MSW) Degree Program. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Limestone University Master of Social Work Program (MSW) Assistant Professor and Associate Professor(s) are considered full-time tenure track faculty positions. As such, they are required to attend a weekly MSW Development Team meeting with the Social Work Faculty/Staff. These meetings include formal minutes and set agendas. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: Teaching assigned MSW Social Work courses, carrying a standard advising load, assisting with SASC and CSWE accreditation responsibilities, assisting with marketing Limestone University and the MSW Social Work program in all designated service areas. A PhD or DSW with an MSW from regionally accredited institutions are required. An LMSW and/or LISW is preferred. Preference will be given to individuals with five or more years of college/university teaching, marketing, and advising experience. 

All MSW Program faculty are required to communicate on a continuing basis with the Director of the MSW Program. This may be set as a once weekly or once monthly meetings depending on the need for direction or support. All graduate faculty working for the program are required to keep office hours that allow them to meet with and advise students. Faculty are required to attend all relevant training programs for the university personnel, (such as LMS training, safety training, student evaluation training etc..). Formal Limestone University functions such as faculty orientation, faculty meetings, graduation, and service on university committees etc.., are required. Graduate faculty are included in all the program general functions and communications. Each faculty member is evaluated by the MSW Program Director at the end of each contract year. Faculty are ranked according to overall productivity on all levels including quality of teaching, quality of advising, marketing, and program participation.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or DSW
  • Five years of post-graduate teaching experience
  • Experience teaching in both/either BSW and/or MSW programs preferred 
  • Experience in student advising 
  • Experience in Field Education 
  • Experience in professional development 
  • Experience in Canvas LMS including Canvas Collaborate preferred

Education and/or Experience:

  • PhD or DSW (PhD in Social Work preferred) 
  • Two years’ experience teaching at the graduate level preferred 
  • At least two years of experience in social work employment preferred 

Language Skills: 

  • English language required
  • Spanish and other language proficiency a plus

Some local, statewide, and overnight travel is required as program necessity dictates.
