Position Announcement

Perform a range of responsibilities for the Theatre Arts department

  • In conjunction with the Technical Director, facilitate scenic, lighting, projections, and sound needs, rehearsal, technical rehearsal, running and closing/strike of each production.
  • Inventory management and feedback to technical director.
  • Work with designers, directors, and production management to manage and maximize the artistic and educational impact of department resources.
  • In conjunction with the Technical Director, assess construction needs, generate paperwork, create materials and labor estimates in time and cost and maintain inventory reports.
  • Train and supervise work-study students and students in the preparation, load-in, maintenance, and strike of shows.
  • Organize and administer the implementation of the shop calendar, following through on design deadlines, scheduling and coordinating students, and coordinating and supervising the construction of all scenic elements for each production.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in the scene shop, performance spaces, and storage spaces.
  • On occasion, may be asked to aide in run of show of productions.
  • Additional tasks as requested.

* Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Technical Theatre or related field / equivalent experience preferred.
* Minimum 2 years' experience in technical theatre preferred.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to foster a positive and learning environment.
* Ability to lead and supervise a crew.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Knowledge of scenic construction, flying systems, light hang procedures, basic audio setup, special effects, or any other cross-disciplinary knowledge is a plus.

Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:   Part-time hourly staff (overtime-eligible) position, working up to 29 hours per week and can vary.
