Job Description

The School of Dentistry (SOD) Office of Student Programs seeks candidates that can work as part of a team in an academic setting with good collaboration strategies, as well as have strong organizational, self-start initiative and follow-through skills in setting and meeting established deadlines and job requirements.  Must have professional writing and verbal communication skills and strong ability to build relationships.

Candidates must have experience with Microsoft Office software, social media platforms, and be prepared to learn other electronic admissions platforms.  The position requires the individual to be adaptable to a varying work schedule with some work on weekends, evenings and able to travel, on occasion.

Primary duties and responsibilities are to:

  • Recruit students for the Advanced Standing Dental Program (ASDP).
  • Support and process all applications received for the ASDP through the ADEA Centralized Application for Advanced Placement for International Dentists (CAAPID).  
  • Assist ASDP faculty director and admissions committee in planning and scheduling, interviews, selection, orientation, and matriculation of applicants.  
  • Advise and counsel prospective students regarding the admissions process primarily for the ASDP, and as a backup for other degree programs (DDS & DH).  This includes advising on admission requirements, TOEFL exams, international transcript evaluation, tuition and financial aid, programs requirements, and ways to improve candidacy for our program
  • Assist ASDP program director in coordinating curricular aspects of program and scheduling.
  • Utilize CRM for prospective students, respond appropriately to inquiries, and manage the communication flow to prospective students.
  • Provide tours to prospective students and assist in matching prospective students for shadowing in the dental clinic.
  • Assist with writing departmental announcements, gather student-centric content, developing and maintaining a content calendar, and implementing a plan to connect with prospective students utilizing a variety of web and social outlets, all in coordination with the school's communications department (BMC).
  • Assist with SOD support services for exam proctoring and students with ADA accommodations.
  • Support the efforts of the Office of Student Programs, School of Dentistry and UMKC through involvement on current and new initiatives such as diversity programming, scholarships, graduation, alumni events, student wellness, and other school wide initiatives.
  • Work at a high level with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.)
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Work Conditions:

  • Responsibilities occasionally require evening and/or weekend work hours.
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in student admissions/recruitment work, counseling/advising, and student activities programming.

Other Information

$19.25-$24.00 per hour commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity
