Position Summary

New Mexico PBS at the University of New Mexico is seeking a motivated, dynamic, detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Administrative Assistant 3.  The idea candidate will have exceptional organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal) with a strong customer service approach. This position oversees the front desk operations, so punctuality and reliability are critical to this position.

  • Provide administrative support for KNME-TV. Answer the main phone line, greet and assist visitors, maintain the office conference room (and calendar), prepare student schedule, and assist other department staff with administrative activities that may include scheduling assistance, meeting preparation, etc.
  • Serve as a back-up P-card holder, responsible for purchasing supplies and coordinating travel for departmental staff.
  • Assist with dept. fuel card and other requirements as needed.
  • Provide support for departmental events including contracting with vendors, managing registration lists, and other administrative items.

Conditions of Employment

  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with or the ability to quickly learn university financial systems and procurement practices to include but not be limited to: P-cards, purchasing, special exceptions, Chrome River, LoboMart, time sheets, and travel reimbursement processes.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Experience scheduling and coordinating meetings
  • Experience with inventory tracking
  • Experience handling cash receipts
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork & problem solving skills.
