Description:

The OAK Lab (PI: Dr. Paulo Carvalho) at Carnegie Mellon University's Human-Computer Interaction Institute invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position. This role is part of an NSF-funded project focused on investigating spaced retrieval practice in K-12 STEM education using educational technology and computational modeling.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing classroom and laboratory experiments

  • Collecting and analyzing data

  • Developing computational models related to learning and memory

  • Publishing and presenting scientific results at major conferences

  • Mentoring students involved in the project

  • Collaborating with the PI on professional development activities (e.g., grant applications, academic job preparation)

Position Details:

  • Duration: 1 year with possibility of renewal

  • Desired start date: August or September 2024

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Cognitive Science, Learning Science, Computer Science, or related fields

  • Proficiency in programming (e.g., R and/or Python)

  • Strong project management skills

  • Motivation to publish first-author papers
