Job Description:

We seek teaching faculty and subject matter experts for our online FlexCourse Associate Degree Program. FlexCourse is an asynchronous, fully online delivery format structured to provide a 1:1 instructional environment with students. The ideal candidates will be creative, flexible, and student-centric, possess superior time management skills, and have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Basic math and algebra
  • Academic writing and reading
  • English-Language Learner/English as a Second Language
  • College composition
  • Environmental science
  • Nutrition
  • Social studies
  • Critical thinking and media literacy

Part-time Teaching Faculty at City University of Seattle have three key responsibilities:

  • Maintaining currency in their profession.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.   • Master's degree in related fields.
  • Undergraduate teaching experience, including instruction, communication, assessment, and online classroom facilitation and management required.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a learning experience that links application with formal learning and adult learning theory.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented system and deal effectively with professional staff, faculty, and culturally diverse students.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standard technical journals and documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, staff members, and Program Director.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with Blackboard teaching software or other learning management platforms desired.

Working Conditions:

The working conditions described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Work is generally performed indoors in a remote and online classroom setting. 
  • Courses last 5 weeks and will include weekend hours as needed. There are two sections of each course offered per quarter.

Salary Information:

Part-time Teaching Faculty salary is based on the number of course credits and the number of students in class.
