Position Summary

The intercollegiate athletics program is an integral part of the university striving to achieve the same standards of excellence in athletics that exist within academic programs. The program is concerned with the physical and mental welfare of the student and strives to ensure that every student-athlete has the opportunity to succeed academically and obtain a degree. Sport programs are a vital function of the University at large.

This position is responsible for support of revenue development primarily in the area of ticket sales, sponsorships, gameday and assisting with marketing plans.

Job Duties

  • Coordinate, develop, grow and enhance ticket sales with a focus on group sales at all ticketed sports to increase revenue and enhance the customer experience. (15%)
  • Assist with the development and implementation of marketing and promotions plans working with department and university personnel. (15%)
  • Collaborate and assist in coordination and implementation of corporate sponsorship activities; collaborate with staff to help facilitate corporate sales. (15%)
  • Plan, coordinate, implement and enhance tailgate and fan activity area for home football games, including but not limited to securing vendors, games and activities, gameday. (20%)
  • Represent UNC Athletics on campus and in the Northern Colorado community on committees and boards and at special events. (10%)
  • Assist with hospitality management on men's basketball gamedays. (5%)
  • Other Miscellaneous Duties. (20%)

This position requires an understanding of customer service, operations, sales, market research, creativity, resourcefulness and multi-tasking. Multi-tasking comes into effect almost every day in this position. Being able to handle any task that needs completion while also being able to put a task aside and take care of another timelier task is essential.

The position would interact with a vast number of various groups on campus on a weekly and sometimes daily basis, including but not limited to the Ticket Office, Parking Services and Athletic Department personnel.

This position will work with outside businesses, groups, individuals and the local communities on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

This position will work with the senior athletic staff in developing the ticket sales/revenue budgets and monitor revenues and expenditures throughout the fiscal year. They will work closely with the Athletic Business Office for billing and collection as well as the University Ticket Office for group reconciliations and reporting.

The position employee may perform duties in extreme weather due to outside sports seasons ranging from August through May.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, sport management/athletic administration or comparable field preferred.

2. Experience: Successful experience in sales; athletic sales experience preferred (sponsorship, in-kind/trade, tickets) and/or athletics operations.

3. Certification/Registration/Licensing: No certifications/registration/licensing required.

4. Ability: Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Office Windows), communication, problem solving, and organizational skills, ability to work well under pressure; preferred - graphic design experience; knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations especially relevant to marketing; database management. Must be able to work nights and weekends as required.

This position is contingent on funding from the Colorado State Legislature, approval by the Board of Trustees, and subject to the policies and regulations of the University of Northern Colorado.
