Job Description

The Moving Specialist is responsible for moving, hauling and storing various office items and equipment throughout the University, and will operate moving equipment such as trucks, forklifts, and hand operated tools. Disassembles and assembles furniture and/or equipment. Position will serve as a backup to the Moving & Hauling Lead Worker in their absence by assisting with estimating, scheduling and directing work of assigned staff or contract workers.

Required Qualifications

Must have knowledge of moving and hauling practices. Must have valid drivers license with good driving record. Ability to operate large trucks (including commercial fork trucks), and other equipment used in moving. Ability to safely and frequently move and handle heavy objects weighing 50 pounds or more; to maneuver materials up and down stairs; to climb and work from elevated work stations such as ladders and scaffolds; and to work for long periods of time standing, walking, reaching, bending, pushing/pulling. Ability to communicate effectively, have good team work skills, and be able to understand, comprehend and follow directions in the workplace. Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures. May be required to work additional hours/shifts to meet the needs of the department.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience working with a moving company.|Previous experience delivering and assembling furniture.

$35,000-$40,000; commensurate with experience
