Position Description
Reporting to the Senior Director of the Office of Medical Education (OME), the OME Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and driving a variety of educational projects in support of the Program in Medical Education (PME) in the cross functional areas of curriculum innovation; assessment and evaluation; faculty development and continuous quality improvement (CQI).

The successful candidate is organized, action-oriented, systems-focused, proficient in data collection and analysis, and an excellent listener and writer who is skilled at consensus-building, with a record of demonstrated success communicating effectively across all levels of an organization. This role requires collaboration with a wide variety of stakeholders at HMS and its clinical affiliates including faculty and staff leadership; PME and hospital administrators; teaching faculty; IT and accreditation specialists; and staff partners across the HMS community. 

The responsibilities of the OME Project Manager include:
  • Create and maintain detailed project plans including timelines for all assigned OME projects;
  • Partner with the Senior Director and OME staff/faculty leads to identify priorities and set project goals;
  • Develop and implement project-related communications strategies targeted to a variety of stakeholders;
  • Develop and implement a strategy for tracking project recommendations and outcomes at each stage of planning and implementation;
  • Regularly convene stakeholder groups including scheduling and administration of meetings and action item follow-up;
  • Collect, analyze and visualize data to inform a solutions-driven approach, and present and report on data to stakeholder groups;
  • Provide advice and guidance to faculty and staff participants on project management best practices and systems;
  • Ensure adherence to deadlines and project parameters with support from faculty and staff leadership;
  • Anticipate potential barriers to success, identify structural challenges and propose solutions;
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement, and recommend and take action to solve problems and address evolving needs and requirements;
  • Move seamlessly between academic and hospital cultures and adapt with discretion and diplomacy.
Basic Qualifications
5 or more years of experience. Higher education may count towards experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • College degree strongly preferred. Proficiency with project management and data visualization tools; experience with Canvas LMS and evaluation tools.
  • Experience with instructional design a plus. Impeccable judgment, discretion and confidentiality required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exemplary organizational and planning abilities, as well as intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Office and web applications.
  • Enthusiasm for educational innovation, new media and blended learning.
  • Flexibility and ability to respond positively to change in a dynamic academic environment.
  • Qualified candidates will possess a strong commitment to continuous process improvement and the ability to exercise independent leadership, prioritize multiple tasks, and work collaboratively with a team.
  • High energy and ability to select appropriate opportunities to take initiative, as well as to ensure that ongoing projects move forward.
  • Position requires promptness and reliability for periodic early morning and evening sessions and meetings.

Work Format Details
This position is based in Boston and some in-person on-campus work will be required, and flexible/remote work is an option. Any remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CA*, CT, GA, IL, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VA, VT, and WA). Individual flexible and remote work options for this role will be discussed during the interview process. *Note: Harvard employees working in California must be exempt.
