The Vice President of Finance and Business is primarily responsible for providing leadership to the financial side of the College, ensuring effective management of financial and physical resources. Organizationally provides leadership and management to the area of finance which includes the College’s business functions including accounting, finance, strategic financial development, student accounts, human resources, IT, physical plant, and auxiliary services. The VPFB serves as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

The VPFO reports to the President of the College and works in collaboration with the members of the President’s Cabinet.

SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS:

The VPFO has three (3) direct reports:

· Executive Director of Operations & Security

· Controller

· Director of Human Resources

EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION:

VPFO works from an office at Crown College. Equipment used includes but is not limited to, personal computer and required programs, printer, calculator, copy machines, and other equipment as the position requires. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Reflect, articulate, and promote the mission, vision, and identity of Crown College.
  • Participate in the President’s cabinet, representing the area of finance and operations in the institutions' pursuit of goals and objectives and strategic plan.
  • In consultation with the President and cabinet, the VP for Finance and Business will develop policies and procedures regarding finance, operations, and HR.
  • Understand higher education compliance including GLBA and Title IX.
  • Work with IT Director to lead technology initiatives that provide superior student, faculty, and staff service.
  • Provide management, oversight, and transparency of the College budget.
  • Provide management and oversight of the divisional budget.
  • Provide executive leadership over Human Resources at the College.
  • Provide executive leadership over the various campus capital project construction projects.
  • Work with the President and Cabinet on the execution of the Campus Master Plan.
  • Serve as liaison between divisional staff and administration.
  • Manage Crown’s outsourced partnership with Sodexo. This includes working closely with Sodexo’s Director of Food Services and Director of Facilities Management.
  • Serve on behalf of the President as a resource to the finance committee of the board regularly communicating financial results to the board and conducting quarterly meetings.
  • Oversee the annual financial audit process.
  • Manage and monitor Crown’s endowment in coordination with the Crown’s investment firm, President, and Finance Committee.
  • Advocate for the growth and development of individual departments within the finance and operations area.
  • Serve as a coach and trainer to direct reports.
  • Represent the college at off-campus venues specifically related to financial entities as assigned.
  • Collaborate with other departments in the college promoting the mission of the school which includes resources to align and achieve the mission.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Advance the mission, vision, and short and long-term goals of the College in concert with the President and Cabinet colleagues.
  •  Agree with the college mission statement, vision statement, Crown commitments, core values, statement of faith, and community covenant.
  • Strong communication skills inclusive of public speaking, as well as organizational, relational, and supervisory skills.
  • Strong financial acumen for both management and planning functions inherent in a VPFO position.
  • Proven ability to build strong collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and external constituents.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Drive to do what it takes to meet goals as an individual and a team leader

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • To have hand and arm (or equivalent) dexterity adequate to allow for extensive use of a keyboard for data entry.

  • To have adequate vision to accommodate frequent viewing of computer screens.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/ or move up to ten (10) pounds and infrequently lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Committed Christian faith, as demonstrated by the integration of their faith into their daily lives.

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field

· Ten (10) years of experience in financial leadership

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· MBA or CPA

· Relevant experience in higher education
