JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Perrine/Kawasaki lab in the Penn State Department of Anthropology is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position.

The Postdoctoral Scholar will work on one or more multidisciplinary NIH funded research projects combining high resolution imaging (PTAe microCT), machine learning (PyTorch), and wet lab techniques (histology) with potential inclusion of light sheet microscopy of mouse models of normative and dysmorphic development of the head, with focus on the lower jaw.

The selected individual will be expected to assist in developing, designing, and conducting research and will gain the training needed to become an independent researcher in the field of mouse development in relation to human disease and development of the head.

The position involves working with animal models, data collection, analysis, mentoring students, writing research papers for publication, and presenting work at appropriate conferences.

Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in biological anthropology, biology, genetics, or medical computer science (or related fields), by the time of appointment.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: experiments using mouse embryos, histology, computed tomography, 3D morphology, statistics, medical imaging analysis, Python coding.

In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.
