Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Department of Arts & Communication is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach Graphic Design and other Art courses. The ideal candidate should have experience working in the graphic design field and teaching at the college level. This position requires a commitment to supporting a diverse student body in their goals to either transfer to a baccalaureate institution or secure a career after earning an associate degree. The candidate should be familiar with contemporary graphic design trends, including software and practices. This is a tenure-track position to be filled for the Fall 2024 semester.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: 

  1. Teach Graphic Design to students of all levels.
  2. Keep current on developments and trends in Graphic Design.
  3. Take lead in student activities related to the arts.
  4. Teach courses in Graphic Design, Drawing I, Design I, and other courses such as Animation.
  5. Develop, implement, and assess student learning outcomes and curriculum at the course. discipline, program, and college level.
  6. Integrate online and HyFlex learning strategies in the classroom.
  7. Serve as Academic Advisor to approximately eighteen (18) students (45 hours per semester).
  8. Hold a minimum of four (4) office hours per week (60 hours per semester).
  9. Participate in Department, Division, and College meetings.
  10. Be committed to department initiatives to support the College's mission and values.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion to support students with diverse abilities, interests, and backgrounds.
  2. Master's degree in Visual or Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  3. Three years working in the Graphic Design field.
  4. Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe XD.
  5. Experience working successfully with a diverse student body.
  6. Competency in using Learning Management Systems.
  7. Effective pedagogical, teaching, and presentation skills in both face-to-face and distance learning environments.
  8. A demonstrated collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues.
  9. Commitment to excellence in teaching.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Community college teaching experience.
  2. Two years teaching Graphic Design at college level.
  3. Proficiency in animation.
  4. An appreciation and engagement with current issues in art and art instruction.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION

Full-time, tenure-track, MCCC position with an anticipated Annual Salary Range of $51,678 - $63,819. Actual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, determined by a formula-based classification system, consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program including option for membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.
