Job Summary

In support of the Polk County Healthcare Collaborative,recruit, advise, and provide support to students in credit and non-credit programs, specifically in designated in-demand healthcare programs. Works collaboratively with Polk County Healthcare Collaborative educational and healthcare partners including DMACC, Des Moines University, Grand View University, Mercy College of Health Sciences, MercyOne, UnityPoint Health, and Broadlawns Hospital.

Essential Functions

  • Support students in all phases of academic and career planning, including program and course information, scheduling, registration, transfer requirements, articulations with other educational institutions and graduation requirements. Advise, coordinate and refer students with specific needs regarding the identification and utilization of support services, including community-based resources, to assist in student success.
  • Maintain regular contact with students to provide guidance, advising, and determine appropriate services to assist the individual in achieving their goals towards further training/education or employment.
  • Assist students in identifying goals and developing career pathways in order to achieve successful transitions to post-secondary education, training and/or employment.
  • Support recruitment efforts and the development and implementation of existing and future initiatives regarding healthcare workforce, with a focus on working with our healthcare partners to help plan and develop and facilitate exploration and educational experiences.
  • Provide case management for students including case notes and all other necessary documentation and electronic case updates including, but not limited to, enrollment, and application forms, employment plans, educational plans and registrations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years of advising, recruitment, promotions, admissions or related experience in an educational setting (Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling, Academic Advising, or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a health field can substitute for one year of experience).
  • Knowledge of current college educational and healthcare workforce development procedures and practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to prepare and deliver public presentations.
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage time.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of current software applications.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with data management.
