The Coordinated Science Laboratory is seeking a Program Manager to act as the manager for issues relating to a multidisciplinary research group. Provide leadership, work with faculty, students, and support personnel to develop, coordinate, and maintain research initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Administration
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Depend Group's research programs, including management and maintenance of group records, publications/bibliography, personnel appointments, financial records, space allocation, and web presence.
  • Liaison with sponsoring agencies, corporations, subcontractors, students, faculty, and other stakeholders as needed.
  •  Schedule, facilitate and attend meetings, including finalizing agendas and coordinating meeting follow-up.
  • Work with the CSL Business Office to administer grants and manage funding (including setting up and closing out grants). Track and advise on annual expenditures, including personnel, equipment, and travel for all group funds.
  • Monitor account activity for compliance with sponsor and University guidelines in cooperation with director; contribute to the development of reports to funding agencies and ensure timely submission of all required documentation.
  • Manage operations for the Center for AI Driven Health Data Systems and Analytics.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and hosting of workshops, corporate meetings, and other events.
  • Assist in creating and administering websites to disseminate technical publications and other informational resources.
  • Supervise part-time staff member and extra-help employees as needed by approving payroll and time-off requests, and by delegating duties.
Development

-    Work with faculty, students and staff to steer the creation and coordination of research project proposals as needed; assist    with creating, writing, and editing reports, proposals, and other documents.

-   Work with the CSL business office and outside collaborators to review and administer license agreements, patent applications, MOUs, NDAs, DUA, and related research agreements.

-   Seek opportunities to develop collaborative research relations with government agencies, educational institutions, and industry.

-       Additional appropriate related program manager duties to further the mission of the unit

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. One year of education, training and/or work experience in a research management and/or administration capacity. Demonstrated experience working on multiple projects with deadlines and deliverable requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's Degree

- Project Management Certification (PMP, CAPM, PgMP); UIUC SPARC-ED Certification

- Familiarity with research proposal process and grant management

- Familiarity with concepts and terminology used in computing systems

- Familiarity with University systems and programs, including systems in financial account management.

- Familiarity working with graduate students

- Familiarity with research proposal process and grant management.

- Ability to converse effectively regarding technical/scientific topics

- Event management experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

-       Excellent, detail-oriented organizational skills to operate effectively in a fast-paced, multifaceted work environment

-       Strong interpersonal and excellent written and verbal communication skills

-       Experiences with higher education or state government operations, process and protocols

-       Ability to work cooperatively within the team as well as independently as appropriate

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after April 15, 2024. The minimum salary for the position is $58,000 and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
