Job Summary

As a member of a dynamic team, is responsible for certifying the enrollment of Veteran Administration (VA) students and/or their dependents at KSU to the VA. Counsels and provides guidance to students, parents, advisors and other campus constituents across campus on various registrar policies and procedures. Assists with the administering registrar processes.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Monitors academic progress of VA students throughout each semester and updates VA when necessary
2. Maintains required records and documentation of all VA certifications
3. Advises students on procedures regarding their benefits
4. Provides customer service to students who have questions regarding VA educational benefits and proactively solve issues that arise regarding benefits
5. Periodically sends email updates to students reminding them of VA policies and procedures and counsel and advise new and continuing VA students regarding benefits and course selection using Degreeworks and Owl Express
6. Collaborates with other KSU Departments and the VA
7. Communicates with the Bursar¿s Office on students¿ benefits and ensure they are being processed in a timely manner
8. Serves as liaison between Bursar and VA, work with Bursar to settle old debts, work with Veteran Readiness and Employment Counselors and provide required information on Chapter 31 students
9. Communicates with the VA on students¿ benefits and Partner with the Military and Veteran Services Office
10. Refers students to Tuition Classification office to ensure veterans are eligible for in-state tuition
11. Updates the VA Once System by inputting new terms each semester and adding new majors
12. Keeps abreast on changing rules within the VA and how they affect KSU students as well as attend conferences
13. Files required documentation with State Approving Agency to ensure that KSU programs of study are approved for certification
14. Serves on the front counter providing customer service to all students as needed

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education

Required Experience
One (1) year relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
One (1) to two (2) years of experience working in an Office of the Registrar at an institution of higher education
Working and tested knowledge of Banner (Ellucian) and Degree Works or similar student information systems

Proposed Salary

The budgeted salary range is $40,800 to $47,000.  Offers are based on relevant experience.
