Limestone University invites applications for a full-time position of Director of Annual Giving for Institutional Advancement.

Position Summary: The Director of Annual Giving’s main responsibilities is to advance the mission of Limestone University by planning, organizing, and implementing strategies to increase the level of personal involvement and financial commitment of alumni, foundations, faculty and staff, parents, and friends. Particular emphasis is given to securing annual gifts through direct mail appeals, e-solicitations, phone solicitations, grant applications, personal visits, text to give strategies and special events. The Annual Giving Director also assists with the Student Alumni Leadership Council to create a philanthropic spirit among Limestone students and educate students about the function of the Institutional Advancement Office. In addition, the Director represents Limestone University through memberships with local organizations. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify strategies for identifying prospects and solicit donations.
  • Develop campaign programs and annual gifts for monetary aid from alumni and community members.
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit giving prospects.
  • Work closely with the Director of Alumni and Donor Relations and the Associate Vice President of Institutional Advancement to design and implement a multi-year strategic development plan to grow unrestricted support and increase participation across constituent types.
  • Manage a portfolio of leadership level gift prospects and develop pipeline of gifts prospects in coordination. 
  • Lead the annual strategy and day-to-day work plan for the annual giving program.
  • Manage volunteer recruitment, training and recognition for annual giving activities including alumnae, parents, and corporate partners.
  • Develop and oversee a strategy to improve acquisition, renewal and pledge fulfillment while working closely with the Director of Advancement Services 
  • Oversee multi-channel (mail, phone, email, text, social media) mass solicitation strategies to increase giving and participation.
  • Develop and implement strategies to encourage increased leadership giving.
  • Identify best practices, opportunity for capacity building and growth, solicitation strategies and stewardship for the annual giving program.
  • Grow and expand giving programs.
  • Grow and expand corporate and foundation grants program. 
  • Identify and build relationships with key alumni/friends within target corporations in order to seek advice and assistance in relationship building, charitable gifts and funding.
  • Understand and become knowledgeable about critical trends and interests of corporations and industries and seek alignment with university initiatives and needs.
  • Develop a strategic approach to recruit, train and continuously motivate phone-a-thon callers consisting of volunteer students, alumni, friends, faculty, and staff callers. Assess the progress of callers for reporting and benchmarking purposes.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Communications to build social media, marketing, and communications strategies for constituents.

Competencies:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Communications: Speaks clearly and effectively to alumni, trustees, friends, corporations, and all constituents. 
  • Written Communication: Writes clearly and effectively both within the college and outside correspondence.
  • Customer Service: Responds quickly and effectively to all constituent’s questions and concerns. Investigates solutions to problems and responds quickly to the concerned party. Is prudent in responding to telephone calls, emails, and other types of correspondence.

Education and/or Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required from a regionally accredited college or university. 5 years of experience in fundraising. Proven record of successful annual giving results. Raisers Edge experience desired. Commitment to donor centric fundraising and follow-through. 

Computer Skills:

  • To perform the position effectively and successfully should have knowledge of Microsoft Programs, Raisers Edge and be able to perform tasks in Word and Excel. Ability to negotiate new computer programs with ease and learn new software.

Travel:

  • The ability to travel alone and with others for meetings, events, conferences, and personal visits with constituents may be required.
