Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and two to three years of fundraising or related experience.

License/Certification Required

Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree from an accredited college or university and experience in major gift fundraising and donor relations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The position is responsible for carrying a major gift portfolio and raising funds for capital projects. Along with donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship - the Assistant Athletic Director of Development will demonstrate a proven history of significant fundraising activity, relationship building, and ability to close significant major gifts.

The position will be responsible for:
  • Designing and executing a fundraising agenda that will support and advance the Athletics agenda; developing and securing leadership gifts for Athletic
  • Cultivating relationships with donors for major gift opportunities for the athletic department
  • Coordinating with sport-specific major gift donors to have access to coaches and athletes
  • Plan events, travel, and opportunities for programming specifically tailored to engage with donors for major gift fundraising
Represents the Appalachian State University Foundation, Inc. and the University at key development and alumni events and fundraising or donor engagement opportunitiesMaintains compliance with procedures in coordination with the Office of Gift Processing to ensure effective collecting, recording, accounting, acknowledgment and follow-up on all gifts

Work Schedule/Hours:Varies, nights and weekends
