Job Description


The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures is seeking a candidate to fulfill the role of Marketing Strategist to advance the Museum's mission by bringing greater awareness about the Museum and cultivating new and returning audiences, members, sponsors, and donors. 


This role supports the Museum's mission to reach new and returning audiences through marketing and communication initiatives. The Marketing Strategist is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing the Museum's communications and public relations strategies. The Marketing Strategist is the first point of contact with the media and works on developing and strengthening media relationships.     


Duties and Responsibilities  

The ideal candidate will have experience across multiple marketing platforms and social media channels/groups, exceptional writing and editing skills, and a strong ability to work with various internal and external partners. This position will work closely with other staff members to plan and develop messaging and strategies to promote the Museum, educational programs, membership, philanthropic initiatives, and events. Additionally, the incumbent will generate reports on performance measures, promotional campaign benchmarks, and member insights. 


Strategic Communication and Marketing 

-        Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies and plans. 

-        Execute marketing campaigns, including social media posts, press releases, and communications for programs, events, exhibitions, and fundraising initiatives.  

-        Collaborate with the Learning and Engagement team to enhance program attendance and ensure cohesive cross-channel communication.

-        Partner with the Development department to create campaigns to increase engagement with members, donors, and corporate sponsors.   

Promotion and Media Relations 

-        Identify marketing opportunities and oversee the procurement of print and radio ads. 

-        Handle media requests and interviews and efficiently manage the Museum's info-account correspondence. 

-        Contribute to the planning and promotion of special events. 


Content Management and Design

-        Create and manage the event calendar, website content, and communications schedule. 

-        Maintain brand consistency in design, functionality, and messaging across all print and digital collateral. 

-        Supervise the design and production of print materials, publications, promotional flyers, signage, and videos in collaboration with content staff. 



40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, with an occasional evening or weekend. 

Minimum Qualifications


A Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.  

Preferred Qualifications


-        Solid knowledge of WordPress, graphic design, video editing, website, and marketing analytics tools.   

-        Three years of varied content creation and marketing experience.  

-        Demonstrated technical proficiency with social media platforms, Microsoft Office, Creative Cloud Applications (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat), and email marketing software (MailChimp, Constant Contact).  

-        Strong creative, organizational, time management, and communications skills.   

-        Detail-oriented; comfortable working independently and as part of a team.  

-        Desire to learn, self-motivate, and thrive in a fast, results-driven environment.  

-        Ability to multitask, manage projects concurrently, and adapt quickly, especially when internal priorities shift. 

Anticipated Hiring Range


$50,367 - $60,000 per year commensurate on education, experience, and internal equity.
