Job Description

The Academic Success Coordinator position will serve a key role for the Children's National Research Center as the newest facility and key expansion of the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech Carilion. This position is located on the Children's National Research & Innovation (CNRI) Campus in Washington DC and will provide oversight for the coordination of educational administration in partnership with the VT grad school, TBMH, and other academic departments at VT. The Academic Success Coordinator will also be responsible for facilitating the logistics placement of students in labs at CNRIC, understand and educate others about the regulations and requirements for individual academic programs, and assist with the development of curricula and courses as needed working with FBRI faculty and leadership. The Academic Success Coordinator will support retention and student success programmatically by focusing on effective cross-functional and cross-departmental relationships. This position will be required to learn processes, support services and networks to provide exceptional service to international students, serve as a point of contact for various VT programs/offices related questions and information (e.g. disability services, Cranwell Center, Dean of Students, etc.), create and provide a programming calendar each semester and have a strong desire to advance the growth and diversity of the program, and support community building.

Required Qualifications

Master's in higher education, education administration, or related field. Previous experience in a K-12 or Higher Ed environment. Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact respectfully and comfortably with all individuals in a diverse multicultural environment. The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently, prioritize work, and multitask and be proactive. Must be deadline and detail oriented and have excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills. Demonstrated success in identifying, cultivating and forming relationships to broaden or deepen partner commitments and achieve outcome metrics. Experience with managing multiple projects and priorities. Experience with project management and/or administration.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with postsecondary admissions and recruitment. Experience with student advising a plus.
