Job Description

The mission of the Urban Education Research Center (UERC) is to create reliable, usable knowledge about education in urban areas with the goal of promoting excellent schooling and improving the lives, opportunities and communities of urban residents in the Greater Kansas City community and the nation. The center accomplishes this mission through collaborative, data-rich strategies including technical assistance and consultation and rigorous research and evaluation using a range of methodological tools. The Sr. Research Assistant will work with the Associate Director to support the mission and activities of the UERC.

Responsibilities:

The Sr. Research Assistant will work closely with the UERC research team to plan and implement the Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers: A Comprehensive Needs Assessment for Kansas City's LGBTQ+ Population project.   The Sr. Research Assistant will:

  • Participate in regular meetings with the project leadership team and ReBuildKC and Pride Community Foundation partners.

  • Work with UERC research team to design the needs assessment survey and focus group protocol.

  • Work with UERC research team to create a recruitment strategy and recruit participants for survey and focus groups.

  • Consult with UERC research team on the analysis of the survey and focus group data.

  • Work with UERC research team to develop final report
Qualifications

Masters Degree

Understanding of Kansas City metro area

  • Understanding of Kansas City metro area

  • Demonstrated record of working with members of the LGBTQ+ community

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with others

  • Good oral and written communication skills

This is a part time unranked non tenure track position at 30% FTE (i.e.12 hours/week)
