The Dean's Office in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) at UMKC is seeking an Office Support Assistant (OSA) IV to join their team. This individual will work closely with the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. The SHSS is home to ten departments and more than 25 academic degree options providing students with a curriculum that spans the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Our students leave the School of Humanities and Social Sciences with a thorough understanding of the world around them.

Job Description

The Office Support Assistant IV provides general administrative and office support to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences including a variety of responsibilities such as front office management, faculty support, program support, and assisting the Associate Dean(s).

Key Responsibilities

  • Office Management which includes answering questions via phone, email and walk-ins; manage copy machine and printers throughout department; work-study supervision; supply ordering; event coordination.

  • Assist the Associate Dean with day-to-day activities and special projects

  • Support students by assisting with admit letters, summer orientation and transfer equivalencies.

  • Support faculty with award submissions, syllabus collection, and research promotion via the website and social media

  • Support our interdisciplinary programs (the Bachelor of Applied Science and the Bachelor of Liberal Arts) with scheduling, promotion, and student support.

  • Financial activities such as onecards, eProcurement, and working with the Accounts Payable (APS) Shared Services Center and Fiscal Officer, as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$15.00- $19.00 per hour commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
