Under the direction of the Assistant Director for Education and Development, the Compliance and Privacy Coordinator (University Staff Professional 1) is responsible for assisting with the implementation and maintenance of the University’s compliance and privacy programs. The Compliance and Privacy Coordinator will provide integral support to the Office of University Compliance including, but not limited to, outreach and education; responding to compliance and privacy concerns; engaging in compliance monitoring activities; and supporting special projects as assigned.



  • Assists the University’s Privacy Officer with the coordination, development, facilitation, and enhancement of the University’s Privacy Program. 
  • Develops, implements, and facilitates privacy-related training and education to enhance awareness of compliance obligations and privacy best practices in higher education.
  • Responsible for the collection and analysis of privacy program data and analytics and develops reports, as needed. 
  • Responds to general privacy questions and inquiries and provides information and referrals, as appropriate.
  • Provides support to privacy-related initiatives including the planning and performance of privacy-based risk assessments and data-inventory processes.  
  • Maintains a working knowledge of relevant privacy laws, regulations, rules, and standards and keeps abreast of privacy trends impacting higher education.


  • Contributes to and assists with the coordination, maintenance, and evaluation of compliance education, training, and awareness efforts and provides recommendations for enhancements, as appropriate.   
  • Collaboratively and independently develops innovative awareness, education, and training to enhance compliance across the institution using various technologies, methods, and platforms. 
  • Manages compliance and privacy websites and listservs, ensuring accurate and effective communication of information.  
  • Supports monitoring efforts including communicating and tracking responses to legislative changes. 
  • Provides support for privacy and compliance investigations by conducting intake meetings, making referrals, and supporting investigation efforts.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of relevant compliance laws impacting higher education as well as knowledge of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.   
  • Responds to general inquiries related to the compliance and privacy programs and activities.   
  • Completes other duties, as assigned.   


  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in developing and facilitating training and presentations to a variety of audiences. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail. 
  • Strong professional judgment and demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. 
  • Ability to independently develop and effectively manage multiple project plans and appropriately prioritize to meet deadlines.   
  • Ability to effectively work in a team-oriented environment and complete work with professional autonomy.  


  • Experience working in a university setting or at an academic medical center.   
  • Privacy, compliance, or other relevant certifications. 
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and/or similar data analysis tools.
  • Experience utilizing educational/technology tools and programs such as Articulate360, Saba Learning Management System, Vyond, Constant Contact, WordPress, and/or similar programs.   
  • Understanding of adult learning theory. 
  • Working knowledge of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines. 
  • Experience working in privacy, compliance, or related field.
