Job Description

The Admissions Specialist at the Lynch
School of Education and Human Development is responsible for the processing of
approximately 2,000 applicants per year and the supervision of graduate student
and work-study student support in various areas, including the timely
processing of applications and requests for admissions information.  This
position will also work with the Assistant Dean and the Associate Director to
process applications, send out admission notifications, process the graduate
student financial aid awards, and maintain the financial aid database. In
addition, this position is responsible for overseeing on-campus visits,
informational interviews, and event support for Admissions events. This
position will also work with the Assistant Dean to develop an alumni ambassador
program for outreach to applicants. This position will also maintain and update
all Admissions policies and procedures, weekly reports, and student record
keeping including correspondence with applicants, competitor benchmarking, and
sample verification of student achievement.

Hiring Range: $25.85/hr to $32.31/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

3-5 years of increasingly responsible
administrative experience, experience in higher education is required;
experience in admission preferred 
Bachelor's degree preferred
Strong computer skills with proficiency in
Microsoft Office which includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software
Knowledge of the university's UIS system Eagle,
FolderWave, Slate, and Eagle Apps preferred. 
Proficiency with database management. Experience
working with software such as Constant Contact and familiarity with webinar
technology. 
Superior customer service orientation and focus
and the ability to work effectively independently as well as in a team
environment
Superior written and oral communication skills
Ability to work with varying constituencies
including deans, faculty, staff, and students
Excellent organizational skills, ability to
multi-task, and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrable
problem-solving skills
Ability to hire, delegate, oversee, follow-up, and
supervise student employees (valuing diversity)
Ability to create and maintain systems for
efficient office management
Ability to work with others under pressure in
order to meet deadlines
