Job Description

This position is based at the Anchorage Alaska delivery site for the College of Pharmacy and will be responsible for establishing clinical APPE ambulatory care rotation at Providence Family Medicine Center in Anchorage Alaska. This faculty member is also responsible for didactic teaching commensurate with a 12-month non-tenure track appointment, including PharmD module course coordination and teaching, Case Studies and interprofessional course offerings. Service to the College and University is also expected as is an active scholarship program, based on educational and/or clinical activities.

Key Responsibilities

Patient care and professional responsibilities: (40%)
* Serve as a resource and assist in the development and delivery of innovative collaborative practice pharmaceutical care services at Providence Medical Group Alaska (PMG).
* Patient care activities: develop collaborative care practices within integrated health service models, medication therapy management, collaborative post-diagnostic disease management.
* Other clinical activities: medication use evaluations, staff development, participate in PMG.
Promotion & Tenure
* Committee or other applicable committees
* Provide preceptor development for other health care professionals and serve as liaison between the university and PMG
* Dispensing/medication administration activities as needed for clinical services

Coordination and supervision of Introductory and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE/APPE) students: (30%)
* Maintain an exemplary ambulatory medicine pharmacy practice site for IPPE/APPE education at PMG.
* Work with the physicians, clinical pharmacists, and others to provide consultative pharmacotherapy services for pharmacy students completing an Ambulatory Care Advance Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE/APPE).
* Precept a maximum of 10 fourth-year pharmacy (P-4) students for APPEs (clerkships) annually.
* Precept a maximum of 10 second/third-year IPPE students annually.
* Serve as a site coordinator and assist staff pharmacy preceptors in the orientation for Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) and other APPE students assigned to PMG.
* Provide written/oral evaluation of student progress for an Ambulatory Care Advance Pharmacy Practice Experience IPPE/APPE students as established for course requirements.

Provide didactic teaching to PharmD and related health profession discipline: (20%)
* A maximum of two 8-week sections of case studies per year - (3 hours per week).
* Provide lectures in the professional Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum.
* Provide Course Coordination as assigned by department chair(s).

Academic member of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Admin. Sci. (10%)
* Serve as a role model practitioner/educator in the didactic and experiential components of the PharmD program.
* Serve on assigned University, College, and Departmental committees commensurate with a non-tenure track, clinical faculty position.
* Develop and maintain an active scholarship program, commensurate with a non-tenure track, clinical faculty position.
* Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Pharm.D. or BS degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Ability to be licensed as a registered pharmacist in Alaska.
  • At least one year of residency or specialty residency or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of effective teaching.
  • Evidence of clinical scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PGY1 in pharmacy practice discipline with preference given to candidates with ambulatory care experience.
  • Experience in ambulatory care.
  • PGY2 - Ambulatory Care.
  • Board Certification.
  • Experiential teaching experience.
Additional Information

Salary will be between $125,00 to $135,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
