Position Announcement
The Nursing Department, within the College of Health Sciences at Utah Tech University, is seeking applications for a nursing arts lab simulation operator (NALSO). The NALSO plays a crucial role for our students by facilitating the use of simulation technologies and manikins to enhance the education for our nursing students. The NALSO is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of simulation equipment as well as assisting faculty and students during simulation sessions. The department, located in the state-of-the-art Taylor Health Sciences building (adjacent to St. George Regional Medical Center), offers associate, baccalaureate, and master degrees in Nursing. Responsibilities
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Part-time hourly staff position (up to 29 hours per week). Hourly rate of $23.00-$34.00 depending on qualifications & experience. Responsibilities
- Understand the use and operation of multiple simulation technologies.
- Serve as a simulation (manikin) operator, operating pre-programmed scenarios with instructor
- Ensuring all simulation equipment is set up for the simulation.
- Assist with the preparation, set up, and operation of simulations in the nursing arts lab
- Give technical assistance, support, and training for instructions and staff in the use of simulation equipment
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment related to simulation needs
- Participate in technical training as necessary to ensure currency of skills and knowledge in simulation.
- Work with the department chair, dean, and other faculty to advance the University's mission.
- Improve professionally and maintain currency in the field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience in a health-related field is required (certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of computer-based technology as used in clinical and educational environments
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of nursing and healthcare practices
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot various simulation technologies and equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with instructors, students, and staff
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Physical ability to independently move equipment (less that 25 lbs.) and move equipment more than 25 lbs. with assistance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
