Job Summary
Shapes the Center's approach to advance key institutional priorities related to faculty and student success by taking a leadership role in a dynamic and motivated team of educational development professionals. Envisions and leads efforts toward the development and facilitation of a comprehensive faculty professional development program related to teaching and learning practices and community. Identifies training needs, collaboratively designs and develops learning opportunities for faculty. Consults with faculty to transform teaching and learning practices by serving as the learning sciences subject matter expert in how to apply theory and put it into practice. Independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; requires deep job knowledge of areas typically obtained through higher education combined with experience. Manages large projects or processes with multiple stakeholders, where problems faced are difficult and often complex; analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions. Manages programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources. Functions with a high degree of autonomy. Influences others regarding policies, practices and procedures.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Directs CETL's personalized services programming, including: the one-on-one consultation program, including review of educational materials and student evaluations of teaching; the classroom observation program; and the student focus group program, including SGIDs
2. Disseminates evidence-based student success pedagogies through new faculty development options, such as workshops, webinars, and book chats
3. Collaborates with academic leaders to identify departmental faculty development needs supporting student success and identify ways to meet those needs.
4. Maintains an in-depth understanding of the professional field with limited oversight from managers.
5. Assists faculty in setting student success goals as well as documenting the impact of their student-success efforts
6. Creates scholarly electronic resources for the website
7. Leads semester- and yearlong communities of practice programs
8. Designs and implements daylong or multi-day intensive programs such as course redesign institutes, orientations, and other student success programming
9. Manages CETL Strategic initiatives in service of institutional priorities
10. Contributes to the strategic vision for micro-credentials at KSU by serving on the university-wide Micro-Credential Committee
11. Envisions, designs, and implements train-the-trainers programs
12. Maintains a current understanding of educational development research and trends related to teaching and learning practices supporting student success
13. Maintains records to track and monitor faculty progress and participation through new and established online faculty development offerings
14. Mentors CETL Faculty Fellows as appropriate
15. Represents CETL on university-wide committees.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Required Experience
Three (3) years of relevant experience, preferably in a higher education environment (can include experience in a CTL during graduate school or similar) doing the following:
- Designing courses and teaching undergraduate and/or graduate students and a record of excellence in teaching
- Designing and leading workshops and seminars
- Designing programs or initiatives
- Consulting with a diverse audience on teaching and learning topics
- Applying teaching and learning scholarship to create more effective learning environments
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience at a large comprehensive and/or research university
Peer-reviewed publications in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, Educational Research, or the Scholarship of Educational Development
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Terminal degree from an advanced institution of higher education
