Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' progressive experience in facilities and operations management in Intercollegiate Athletics plus supervisory/management experience.
  • Working knowledge of building systems, maintenance supervision and facilities operations.
  • Work experience that demonstrates strong time management, written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with students, coaches, staff, administration, campus partners and community members.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines, manage multiple projects, work as part of a team and motivate staff in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated support for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays depending on work and game schedules. Some travel may be required.
  • Perform all job duties in a manner consistent with NCAA , conference and University rules, regulations, ordinances, policies, and procedures.
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the University by the University's insurance carrier.

Position Details

Position Purpose

Oakland University Athletics is a Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence. Our Athletic Department is looking for a highly organized, driven and detail oriented individual to fill the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Event Management. This position reports to the Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations. Duties include:

- Supervise and oversee all athletic facilities, operations, event staff and equipment room staff as well as budget oversight to these departments.

- Lead, implement and align facility and event safety and emergency procedures with other campus safety initiatives where applicable.

- Develop, execute, and oversee policies and procedures related to facilities, operations, and event management.

- Working in conjunction with the Business Office, develop, implement, and monitor the business plan for the external revenue from facility rentals and direct oversight of those rentals.

- Supervise and oversee Athletic sports camps.

- Comply with all NCAA , Conference and University rules, regulations, ordinances, policies, and procedures.

- Knowledge of NCAA rules as it pertains to assigned job duties and the scope of employment. In addition, the individual will be responsible for obtaining proper guidance or approval from Athletics Compliance prior to participating in select activities, as defined by NCAA bylaws or institutional policies.
- Liaison to Athletics external facilities partners.

- Develop, execute and oversee initiatives and special projects as directed by the Athletic Director. Ensures that all special projects are actively moving forward by monitoring assigned personnel and programs.
